At Arena Horsemanship Centre, our aim is to teach young people and adults who are learning to ride for the first time, or who have lost confidence, to ride safely and confidently, making it an enjoyable experience for both themselves and their horses. Horse riding lessons are the ideal way to learn confidence, balance and co-ordination in a controlled environment where the potential risks associated with horse riding are minimised.

At Arena, our objectives are:
• to create confident horse riders
• to teach good horse handling skills
• to instill safety for horse and rider
• to turn out well behaved horses!

Our key initiatives include:
• Ensuring that not just the students, but their parents as well, understand good horse care and maintenance
• Providing introductory horse riding skills with safety and confidence
• Assessing appropriateness of horse choice
• Assessing suitability of existing horse ownership

Principal of Arena Horsemanship Centre, and riding instructor, Lorna Delaney, has been riding horses since infancy and has worked in the horse industry for over 30 years. She began riding in ladies racing, working as a stablehand and breaking in horses from the age of 15. At 18, she started a 4 year apprenticeship as a jockey with Racing NSW. Her professional racing career spanned over 2 decades, having ridden over 500 winners.

Lorna's background, experience, training and industry knowledge have provided her with the overall skills to ensure that her students have a thorough grounding in horse riding skills, including OH&S for both horse and rider. Her calm and patient approach to teaching, and dedication to safety, will see all students, both adults and children alike, build confidence and skill, and gain much enjoyment from the pleasures of horse riding.
